Site Revamp v4.0

streetkore-news

For those of you just checking in, we’ve upgraded the site quite a bit over the past few days. Many of you may not realize it, but this is actually our 4th full over haul since the inception of StreetKORE.net in 2005. It’s been a steady haul all these years. Now it’s time to toss it in overdrive and get this thing moving.

The reason behind the new layout is we are planning to begin a new chapter in the StreetKORE legacy. Since the brainstorm of this site some 4 years ago, the idea was to start an Online Magazine dedicated to the streetfighter community and to those that build unique and inspiring creations. From the guys in the garage to the companies and manufacturers that drive not only the motorcycle industry, but the lifestyle as a whole. Our goal is to spotlight  as much of the people and ideas that drive our culture as possible.

So, what can you expect to see in the future?

The home page has been structured into 5 main areas that correspond to 7 main categories.  The tabbed menu at the very top will let you look through all the pages and categories of the site  individually. At the top you will find revolving images under our Features category. We plan on featuring as many killer bikes as we can find. That will be the bulk of what goes on there. Although, we also plan to spotlight some people in the scene that we find note worthy as well as some tech tips and other ideas, events or people of interest as they happen. Mainly, this is going to be an area of  major interest.

Next to that is our video spotlight. Or, StreetKORE TV. Basically a video dump for cool stuff we find on You Tube.

Under our Features box is our Photo Dump. Random, cool pictures of bikes are all going to get tossed in there for you to scroll through at your leisure.

Under that is a link to StreetKORE Apparel.  We offer a wide selection of clothing for both Men and Women with unique styles and designs. Definitely check that out ;)

Our Latest Posts section will have the 10 newest posts from across the site. Anything and everything that we post winds up there as they happen. You can check all our previous entries either through the Archives menu at the right or hit Older Posts at the bottom of the page.

On the right side of the page you will find the 5 most recent entries pertaining to StreetKORE.net, or StreetKORE News. From the magazine, to the clothing line to our bike projects. Anything pertaining to StreetKORE that we want you to know about falls in there.

When you’re finaly sick and tired of listening to us. There’s a Links box so you can check out some other cool people and see what they’re up to.

The site is still evolving. There’s still a couple spots we gota hit with some bondo and paint or finish buffing out. It’s getting there. Bare with us while we finalise a few things, but feel free to look around, let us know what you think, drop us a line if you’ld like. We always look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for checking us out.

New Mortagua Fighter

Bike #5 from Mortagua has recently been completed. Don’t know much of the specs on it other then it’s a complete one off steel frame with Girder style front end. Power comes from a oil cooled Suzuki motor. We like those ’round here :D . Other then that, all I can say is it’s big, it’s gnarly, it’s purple. I dig the paint job. Cool shit. Check it out

Stopping gear is Brembo GP spec though out. The fuel deliverey is special on to itself. Yoshimura-Mikuni TMR MJN Smoothbore flatslides. Exaust is sent through a one off titanium Racefit system. To keep an eye on things, a Motec dash unit handles the vital info.

Project: Ground Pounder.

cb16_la-copy

Mission: Ground Pounder will encompus classic Drag bike styling, Super Bike performance and modern road going suspension. Along with a host of custom touches to add to the minimalist values. This resurrected scrapyard survivor will become an ultimate  stop light destroyer.

Back Story: Before StreetKORE was born, I worked in a motorcycle salvage yard in Charleston, SC. This neglected example of a ‘77 Suzuki GS750 was rusting away in the back lot for decades. It was owned by one of the shops good customers and was intended to be a parts bike for a number of his projects. He really had no attachment to it anymore, so there it sat. In the 80’s it was turned into a mild lowrider. Lowered suspension, home made drag bars and some mild tuning. At some point in it’s life the original motor locked up and from there it found it’s resting place in a corner of the yard. 20 years later I came along and for some reason found a spot in my heart and a burning image in my mind for this rusted relic. I asked the owner a price and he responded with $100. Being a broke 20 something kid with other responsibilities, that extra $100 was never in my pocket at the right time. A couple of years after my employment with the shop I was in the process of moving out of town. Call it fate, happen stance, or dumb luck, I had to swing back through to get a $2 part for my current bike and the thought of the loley GS poped into my head again. And it just so happened our good friend was in the shop that day too. Guess what, I miraculously had $100 in my pocket as well . God was smiling, the planets aligned and the rusty mess found its way in the back of the U-haul.

Current Progress: It’s been a slow progression thus far. Once time presented itself, the entire bike was stripped to the frame. The only original parts to be used will be the frame and gas tank. The 20 years of corrosion made for an eventful day dismantling. After a few hours of toil it was on it’s way to becoming a new bike.

DSC01207DSC01213DSC01414

First order is getting the frame setup. Anyone who has ever ridden a 70’s era motorcycle knows the frames have an inherent flex in them. This bike will be sprung with modern suspension, which will only magnify the issue. The rear end has been converted to monoshock. An “X” brace and cross bar has been made from 1″ tube and the upper shock mount was drawn up in CAD by our friend Shift1313 and formed in a CNC press by our other good buddy CK187 from the customfighters.com forum. Frame bracing continues across the front down tubes and in the subframe.  Seat rails have been lowered 1″ and a new subframe is being constructed from 3/4″ tubing. The subframe will be more for aesthetics than anything, as it will be the frame work for the tail section, mainly.

DSC01690DSC01708DSC01709DSC01717DSC01795scrapyard5DSC01800ShockbracescrapDSC01976

Suspension consists of a +9″ ‘95 GSXR swingarm, extended by Fish’s. Rear shock is from an ‘06 GSXR600. Rear linkage is ‘91 GSXR with custom made dog bones. Front forks and clamps are from a ‘99 R6. The clamps have been shaved and smoothed. Lower legs are being shaved of fender and brake mounts. Wheels are 19×2.15 Front from a KZ550, 18×5.5 rear from a GSXR1100. Brakes are custom made all around. The rear rotor is a custom laser cut wave piece bound by a vintage single piston race caliper. Front brakes will be handled by a one off 19″ perimeter rotor cut to match the rear wave. Caliper will be a monoblock radial mount with custom bracket.

For a Fallen Brother, Gavin Butts

100_6142

We would like to take a moment and remember our Brother, Friend and fellow StreetFighter. Gavin “Greencheezata” Butts. October 5, 1983 – September 8, 2009. We lost Gavin after a crash last night. It is truly a shame he was taken from us so early. Gavin was a quick witted, Happy go lucky guy with a lot of talent. Always willing to lend a hand, Quick with a joke that would leave you rolling on the floor in laughter. A devoted father and loving person all around. He built outstanding machines. His ZX10 powered Z1000 is an outstand example of craftsmanship, ingenuity and cleanliness.

Gavin will be deeply missed. We have started a memorial fund for Gavin’s family to help with the funeral expenses and for his children. We will also be offering memorial T-shirts and stickers through the StreetKORE SHOP and through www.customfighters.com. Profits from all sales will go to Gavin’s family. If you would like to donate, please visit either site or click the pay pal button below and we will get the funds to his family.

RIP my friend.

Fighter Fest 09, Sunday and the ride home

Sunday was a pretty chill day. After spending a few hours checking out what we didn’t see earlier that weekend, and hanging out for the last day with everyone, it was soon time to pack it in. The ride home was nice. We headed down I-81 to the Shenandoah Valley and rode 100 miles through the National Park. We picked up I-64 and headed over to I-40 through North Carolina. I-40 through this area is actually a nice curvy bit of Freeway. I took over driving duty while Trucker grabed the DSLR and hung out the window to get some killer shots of the crew riding. I’ll let the pics speak for themselves pretty much. Enjoy. Hopefuly we’ll see y’all in Carlisle again next year.
