Mortagua Fighter

Ran into Mortagua Fighter on Myspace last night. I had seen a couple of his bikes a number of years ago. The Blue GSXR and Yellow RF900 where 2 of his first bikes to gain coverage. Last night a saw some of his newer projects. Holy hell these things are insane. I’m in love with the engineering he puts into his bikes. The styling is over the top, but it totally defines his work. I absolutely love the Green GSXR power hub center steer bike. I’m getting bad ideas from this machine. Maybe after I finish the Ground Pounder :D

New Project, Ground Pounder

Today I started tearing into a new project. I’ve had plans for this bike for a number of years and It’s getting to be that time to get thing moving. The base is a 1977 Suzuki GS750B. I picked up this bike from a friend and good customer last year and it’s been waiting in storage till now. Plans are to upgrade damn near everything. Suspension, engine, wheels and brakes, body work. All of it will be touched in some way.

Today I stated stripping the bike down and mocked up the new rear end. Swingarm is a 95 GSXR750 that’s been extended +9 inches by Fisch’s. Rear wheel is 18 inch GSXR with 200 Avon rubber.

I also pulled the original 2 valve air cooled engine as it’s locked up from sitting out in the elements for 20+ years. Plans are to build a Big Bore GSXR oil cooled engine and swap it in it’s place. Electrics have all been removed and will need to be replaced and harness made from scratch. This is going to be a fun project. I have a soft spot for vintage bikes but I love building Fighters. This is going to be one hardcore muscle bike.

Here’s what I’m starting with. Rusty, gnarly, needs a lot of help.

Here’s the new swingarm mocked up.

Got it broke down to a roller by late afternoon.

This is what we’re working towards. Very minimal, drag style fighter.

I’ve started a new gallery for this project as well. Check it out and follow along as it progresses.  Project Ground Pounder.

Ducati Streetfighter pics

A lot of talk has surrounded Ducati’s newest production model. Love it or hate it, Ducati has put together an interesting package. The Streetfighter has some decent lines and the hart of the 1098 Superbike. If you can get around the marketing and look at the overall machine, it has merrit. We’ll see if the sales numbers warrent the effort. Anyway, recently Ducati released some of the original concept sketches and some action shots of the new bike. So here they are.

ICON Tyranny Vid

This is pretty cool. Icon put this ad together for their new Tyranny helmet. Pretty well done. The revlimiter looped into the sound track is kinda neat too.

New Shirt Designs

Been hard at work coming up with some new designs. They’re now available in The SHOP. Also added some long sleeves, hoodies and ladies gear as well. Here are a few samples of the new designs.

StreetKORE Apparel hits the Streets

Julien Dupont- Freeride the World

If you haven’t heard of Julien Dupont, or seen his vids, you are missing an amazing bit of 2 wheeled videography. Dupont is one of the most skilled riders I have ever had the pleasure witness. He is the cross between a surgeon and a madman on a motorcycle. The videos he and his film crew produce are a thing of cinematic beauty as well. Very unique and eye catching with a very artistic flare. Every vid always keeps you engrossed in the experience. Julien has started a new genre in the motorcycle world. It could be considered an extreme form of trials riding. It’s a cross between Trials, Street Stunt and BMX Freestyle all rolled into one. Julien takes trails riding into the urban setting, riding a GAS GAS TXT 300 all over the world finding new bits of the landscape to ride over, jump over and across, slide, stall and run burnouts and wheelies all over. The man rides up stairs, across walls, over the top of suspension bridges and anything else he can find that he can put at least 1 wheel on. It’s simply amazing to watch. He has a number of trailers on YouTube as well has his personal site. If you’re looking for something more then your average stunt video, check him out.

Svensemen, The GSXR Guru

In case you hadn’t guessed by now, I have a bit of an Oil Cooled GSXR fetish. Ever since I rode my first 1100 Way back when I was hooked. And Not so surprisingly there’s a huge cult of Oil Boilers out there that share my passion for one of the greatest machines produced by Suzuki. One such individual is Sven. Sven originally hails from Hamburg, Germany, but now resides in the Windy City. I’ve talked to Sven online for a number of years, and he’s always been a wealth of knowledge of all things GSXR. The man has an uncanny ability to rattle off the most obscure spec or swap at the drop of a question. No need to look it up, he’s got it filed away in a gigantic gixxer rolodex of a brain. I finally got to meet Sven during Fighter Fest 08 in Carlisle, PA last July. He’s one of the most Humble, down to earth and wity guys you’ll ever meet and generally a good guy all around. Last year he started building a GSXR1100WP Fighter that totally blew us away. Sven tends to keep some of his progress under wraps till he’s done, and it’s worth the anticipation. Totally clean, totally detailed and totally German. The entire bike was gone over with a fine tooth comb and the style was a perfect piece of German inspired engineering. We were so impressed with the bike we had to feature it in Custom Fighters Magazine #2. Well, he’s now posted the entire document of the build on his website along with some useful info for those of you that may be interested in some of the ideas he’s used or if you’re looking for some specs or swap charts, he’s got them up there too.  I definitely recommend you check it out and also pick up a copy of Custom Fighters Mag as well.

Blunt Force Trauma Inc.

eds_gixer4

Yan and Eds are the strange duo that make up Blunt Force Trauma. What happens when you put a Brit and a Scottsman in the same room? Well, usually broken bottles, tiped over bar stools and an overall bloody mess. Some how these two have managed to put aside that stereotype and focused their energey into putting out some killer bespoke bits and a handful of excellent fighters. These gents do some magic with Billet aluminum and tend to be on the reasonable side of pricing as well. They’re in the process of putting together a new website, but have a good bunch of example of their work already posted. Check them out. Blunt Force Tauma Inc.

Brit Joe’s 7/10 GSXR

britjoes710

For all you new school GSXR freaks here’s a good example of what’s possible with your twin spare race rep. Our buddy Brit Joe, who now resides in Canada, built this home engineering marvel a few years back. With a nod to the 7/11 ideology he put 1000cc’s in a 750cc bag. I’ll let him explain it all as he’s got a good way of putting it all together.

Bare Bones, Bare Metal,
The Bastard Child of a GSXR 750 SRAD, and a GSXR 1000
The Definition of a Streetfighter, 60lbs lighter than a stock GSXR 1000, 2inches shorter in the swinging arm makes this beast a wild ride.
The bike started as a departure for me as i always owned old school Suzukis GS muscle, or Kawasaki Z series 4 cylinder natural aspirated machines, I wanted something new and found the perfect donor, a smashed Gixer 1K with a unregistrable title, i needed a rolling chassis, and found the perfect one, a 750 gixer, at the time , i thought a easy swap,
not true, the 1000 motor wasn’t a direct bolt in, new adaptor plates and some carving of the rear mounts on the motor its self.
Obviously there was a lot more to this build than I can fit in these few words but check out the photo gallery to see.
Thanks
Joe Dunderdale
